Where can I see an antique American Indian picture?

There are many websites and resources featuring pictures of famous Native Americans, and others meant to show traditional costumes, which were taken in the early 1900s. Sherwood's Spirit of America is one such resource, so is Pitt Rivers Museum.  You may want to do a bit more research by visiting the International Directory of Photography Historians, or see Civil War Photographs which may include some Choctaw photographs, or join The Old Photo Forum  to find out more about a mysterious photo you may have found in your attic.

Of course, many contemporary photographers have chosen to document American Indian culture. Sarah Pennman is one of them, and Peter Brobeil helps keep history alive by rendering archival photographs of Native Americans in graphite.
